About this trip

Start your day early with a scenic drive from Marsa Alam to the ancient city of Luxor, once the capital of the pharaohs during Egypt’s New Kingdom. You'll be picked up from your hotel in a private, air-conditioned vehicle.
Pickup time depends on your hotel’s location and will be confirmed at booking.

You will then travel from Marsa Alam to Luxor, enjoying a scenic drive through desert landscapes and the fertile Nile Valley, with a relaxing break along the way between the two cities.

Begin with a guided visit to the impressive Karnak Temple, one of the largest religious complexes ever built. Constructed and expanded by many pharaohs over nearly 2,000 years, it was dedicated mainly to the god Amun. You will walk through the famous Great Hypostyle Hall, where 134 massive columns rise high above you, covered with ancient carvings and hieroglyphs.

Then cross the Nile River to explore Luxor’s West Bank, the ancient burial ground of the pharaohs. Here you will visit the legendary Valley of the Kings, where many rulers of the New Kingdom were buried in richly decorated tombs hidden deep in the desert mountains. Your ticket includes entry to three royal tombs, each decorated with colorful wall paintings depicting scenes from the afterlife.
Tutankhamun’s tomb is not included, but can be added for $25 per person.

Next, visit the remarkable Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut, a unique temple built into the cliffs of Deir el-Bahari. It was constructed for Queen Hatshepsut, one of Egypt’s few female pharaohs, and is famous for its elegant terraces and impressive architecture that blends into the surrounding rock.

You will also stop at the impressive Colossi of Memnon, two massive stone statues that once guarded the entrance to the mortuary temple of Pharaoh Amenhotep III. Each statue stands about 18 meters tall and has been watching over the west bank of the Nile for more than 3,000 years.

Lunch at a local Egyptian restaurant is included.
You will also have the chance to visit a papyrus workshop, where you’ll see a fascinating demonstration of how ancient Egyptians made papyrus paper, along with stops at other authentic local shops.

This is a private tour, giving you flexibility to move at your own pace. You can also customize the itinerary — for example, choose Luxor Temple instead of Karnak, or request other small changes.

After a full day of exploring, you'll return to your hotel in Marsa Alam in the evening.
